Luma’s specialist knowledge of the wines of Champagne, Spain, Portugal, South Africa, South America and Australia, crystallized by earning the Wine & Spirit Education Trust’s Diploma Level 4 (the highest possible qualification) and the official title Luma Monteiro DipWSET, means she is regularly invited to judge at the wine world’s most prestigious competitions, including the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) and International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC), as well as the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles and Mundus Vini.

Luma Monteiro was also named winner of a 2022 Dom Pérignon Gold Vines Wine Scholar Guild Scholarship, as chosen by a team headed up by Jancis Robinson MW.

She runs one of the UK’s most popular wine content platforms @wineriaofficial with the aim of ‘making wine accessible to a diverse audience’, for which it’s easy to see why she won the IWSC Emerging Talent in Wine Communication (2023) award; when Luma describes a wine you just can’t wait to taste it.
